EMS Providers Honored with Local & Regional Awards

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Eric Thomas was awarded with Basic Life Support/EMT of the Year for 2015. The honor is given each year to an EMT that excels at the position and who acts as a role model for other members. Eric brings vast knowledge to the agency thanks to his prior experience in EMS as well as his studies in the physician’s assistant program at RIT. Mr. Thomas will be graduating from the program this month and will be joining UR Medicine as a physician’s assistant while continuing to work part-time as an EMT in Henrietta.

Paramedic Eric Rathfelder was awarded with CHS Healthcare’s Advanced Life Support/Paramedic of the Year for 2015. He was also nominated at the regional level and has been recognized as the Monroe-Livingston Paramedic of the Year. A former school teacher and now a full-time law enforcement officer in the City of Rochester, Mr. Rathfelder brings a variety of knowledge and experience to his position as a paramedic. He’s worked in both urban and rural environments and also serves as the chair of the education committee on the Monroe-Livingston Regional EMS Council. Eric received his paramedic certification from MCC, BA from SUNY Geneseo and his MS from the University of Rochester.
