CHS Healthcare announced today that two of its members are recipients of “EMT of the year” and “paramedic of the year” from the Monroe-Livingston Regional EMS Council. Matthew Jarrett was awarded Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) of the year for his work providing excellent basic life support (BLS) care to patients in 2011. Matthew Comer was awarded paramedic of the year based on exemplary advanced life support (ALS) care rendered last year.
Both Jarrett and Comer were acknowledged at the annual STEP (Study of Trauma and Emergencies Project) banquet on March 23 at the RIT Inn & Conference Center. The awards are given out each year to 1 EMT and 1 paramedic in the region, covering Monroe & Livingston Counties.
The honor is a testament of both providers’ dedication to serving the residents of Henrietta and surrounding communities with the very best emergency medical care. Both recipients are full-time employees of the agency and are highly respected among their peers.
“We are so lucky to have both of these providers within our agency. They not only provide great care to the patients we serve but have also gone above and beyond to help further our growth. The EMS community in this region is notably improved in part thanks to their efforts”, said Reg Allen, Chief of CHS Healthcare.
This is the fourth year in a row an EMT from CHS Healthcare has won the award. Additionally, a paramedic from Henrietta has won two out of the past three years. The Council also recognized the agency for its 50th anniversary and for its participation in caring for those involved with the recent incident at the Burnwell Gas Facility in Mumford on September 13, 2011.
