Henrietta, NY, January 26, 2016 — CHS Healthcare announced today that it has received regional and state approval to become a New York State Course Sponsor. This allows the organization to offer a greater range of courses including state-regulated CFR (Certified First Responder), EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) and Paramedic recertification classes. CHS Healthcare is now one of only five organizations within Monroe and Livingston counties to serve as a NYS Course Sponsor.
The process extended over nearly two years and ended with approvals from regional councils as well as a final audit conducted by the New York State Department of Health. The EMS system within New York State is broken down into 18 unique areas totaling 58,000 providers across the state. 23,000 of those people are in process of becoming certified or are recertifying their existing certification on any given year. CHS Healthcare had to prove the need existed within the local counties so that it could serve as a Course Sponsor.
The announcement allows CHS Healthcare to grow as a leader in EMS education within the region. Students are invited to attend courses hosted at the agency as early as Spring 2016.
