Henrietta, NY, March 4, 2013 — CHS Healthcare (HVA) announced completion of training more than 700 people in CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and proper AED (automatic external defibrillator) use in 2012. The agency, which provides Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to the town of Henrietta and surrounding communities, provides free CPR/AED training to residents of the town.
CHS Healthcare’s CPR program, in conjunction with the American Heart Association, allows members of the community to sign-up for a class entitled “Heartsaver AED” which covers the important and life-saving aspects of how to perform CPR and use an AED in the event someone goes into cardiac arrest.
“CPR is something everyone should know,” says Linda Missel, Training Lieutenant. “It’s not just a skill for paramedics and those in public service to know. We’re trying to get the word out to the public that learning the simple skills of CPR and using an AED can truly save lives. It’s proven that without CPR in the public, a victim’s chance of survival is greatly limited.”
Classes are offered at a variety of dates and times and are held at CHS Healthcare’s newly renovated Training Center at 280 Calkins Road. There is no charge for Henrietta residents to take the class. Non-residents may register for the community CPR class for $35 online at the agency’s website. Everyone who completes the class will receive a certification card, which is valid for two years. The agency also trains large groups and employees of local companies who are interested in becoming certified.
Those interested in any of CHS Healthcare’s classes or programs can get more information by calling the Training Department at (585) 334-4190 or by visiting www.HenriettaCPR.com.
