Community Services

Our belief as healthcare providers is that we can use our knowledge and skills to educate the community in a variety of health related and safety topics. While we work tirelessly to respond 24/7 to emergency EMS calls, our role has expanded beyond simply treating and transporting patients to the hospital of their choice. As a constant presence in the community, we are often the “eyes and ears” within people’s homes and residences. We often see things that a patient’s doctor or other healthcare provider may never see. We don’t take this privilege lightly.

Our EMTs and paramedics take time with patients and family members to help correct potential issues before they cause further harm. This effort focuses mostly on preventing injury/trauma and proper care for the elderly. Traumatic injury makes up the highest percentage of 911 calls for our agency. Many of these calls for injury may be preventable.

Blood Pressure Screening

CHS Healthcare proudly offers free blood pressure readings. This service is available everyday between the hours of 8am and 10pm, seven days a week. However, we can’t always guarantee that someone will always be available to take your blood pressure. Whether someone is available or not will depend on how busy the 911 call volume is at any given time.

We invite you to stop in to our headquarters any time between 8am and 10pm to have your blood pressure checked. When you arrive, please proceed to the main entrance and ring the doorbell. Our facility features a comfortable treatment room for you to rest & relax for a bit prior to having your blood pressure checked. You should always rest for 3-5 minutes prior to having your blood pressure taken in order to gain an accurate reading.

Demonstrations, Tours, and Standby Support

CHS Healthcare would be happy to provide your organization with a demonstration, “show & tell” or other arrangement. We frequently do this type of service at local community events, for boy scouts, girl scouts, cub scouts, etc. These community services are generally free of charge.

Our agency also provides ambulances at sporting and other events throughout the community. There is an hourly fee charged for events where an ambulance is required to remain at the event and in cases where the event’s location requires a dedicated ambulance.

For more information or to schedule an ambulance to standby at an event, please email standbys@chsmobilehealth.org or call (585) 334-4190. It is necessary for special event standbys to be scheduled in advance so that crews can be scheduled.

Community Outreach

CHS offers free education for a wide range of clients through our community outreach program. We are able to offer Hands Only CPR/AED Training, Choking awareness, Stop the Bleed tm training, and Narcan training to your organization or party. This education does not provide an official certification but still provides immeasurable benefit for those looking for general knowledge. We have brought this education to schools for their Teacher’s conference days, sports facilities for their staff and even a Birthday Party for a past cardiac arrest survivor. For more information about our community outreach services, please email outreach@chsmobilehealth.org.

Loan Closet

Our equipment loan program provides free crutches, walkers, canes and wheelchairs to residents of Henrietta, Chili, Scottsville, Wheatland and Caledonia at no charge. To borrow one of these items, simply stop by our headquarters and sign them out. You may contact us at (585) 334-4190 prior to coming in to check the availability of items.
