CHS Healthcare Named “Agency of The Year”

CHS Healthcare has been named EMS Service Provider of the Year for 2001. This honor is awarded by the Monroe-Livingston Regional Council to “any agency, which strives for consistency in EMS excellence and exhibits exemplary performance when, providing pre-hospital emergency care.” This award was received in a year when Henrietta celebrates its fortieth year as the primary emergency medical provider to the Town of Henrietta.

CHS Healthcare responded to over 4500 calls for assistance in 2001 while maintaining over a 95% response rate. Currently, CHS Healthcare has over 135 members and paid staff, three ambulances and two advanced life support vehicles.

Some achievements of CHS Healthcare in the past year include:

  • 40th year of service to the town of Henrietta and surrounding areas
  • 4th highest call volume in the county (behind Rural Metro, Monroe Ambulance and Greece Volunteer Ambulance)
  • 96.6% call volume coverage
  • 38 of the volunteers have over 1000 hours of service
  • Only EMS agency to have all five vehicles LifePak-12 equipped (this is the latest technology in defibrillation and patient monitoring)
  • Child and baby car seat inspection center

In addition to some of these merits, CHS Healthcare also participated in Monroe County’s volunteer efforts at the World Trade Center Disaster (Ground Zero) by sending one advanced life support ambulance and six volunteers.

The recipients of the MLREMS council awards are forwarded to the State Awards Committee of the NYS EMS Council for consideration as a statewide award recipient. Those awards will be presented at the “Vital Signs” conference in Syracuse on November 2, 2002.
