Henrietta, NY, December 16, 2009 — CHS Healthcare (HVA) announced today completion of training more than 300 people in CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and proper AED (automatic external defibrillator) use in 2009. The agency, which provides Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to the town of Henrietta and surrounding communities, set a goal for the year to train at least 300 individuals.
“CPR is something that every member of the community should know. Although you hope you never to have to use the skills, knowing how to perform CPR and use an AED in the event a family member, friend, co-worker or child goes into sudden cardiac arrest is a huge plus.” says Steve LaDue, Assistant Chief, Training. “Our instructors do a great job of making the four-hour CPR class interactive and easy to understand. We highly encourage everyone in the community to give us a call or visit our website so that we can continue to train more folks in CPR.”, LaDue says.
CHS Healthcare’s CPR program, in conjunction with the American Heart Association, allows members of the community to sign-up for a class entitled “Heartsaver AED” which covers the important and life-saving aspects of how to perform CPR and use an AED in the event someone goes into cardiac arrest.
Classes are offered at a variety of dates and times and are held at CHS Healthcare’s newly renovated Training Center at 280 Calkins Road. There is no charge for Henrietta residents to take the class. Non-residents may sign-up for a nominal fee of $35. Everyone who completes the class will receive a textbook from the American Heart Association as well as a certification card, which is valid for two years.
