Henrietta, NY — April 18, 2018 — Caledonia Ambulance/Genesee Valley Emergency Medical Services (GVEMS) recently joined CHS Mobile Integrated Healthcare—a move that ensures long-term 24-hour EMS response to the residents of Caledonia, Mumford and paramedic services for the Town of York. As of March 26, the operating authority was transferred to CHS Mobile Integrated Healthcare (CHS MIHC).
“We didn’t have the manpower to operate the ambulance 24/7. Not to mention the rising costs to operate, insure and train personnel—it became unsustainable,” said GVEMS President James Carroll.
A CHS ambulance will be positioned 24 hours a day, seven days a week in the Cal-Mum community assuring a prompt response when needed. Also, CHS MIHC will stage an ambulance in the area when the first ambulance is out on a call. If CHS MIHC is not available due to high call volume, the mutual aid agreements with Livingston County EMS, Avon Ambulance, Leroy Ambulance and other neighboring EMS agencies remain in effect. The mutual aid agreements are part of the County wide system to help cover emergency calls when the local ambulance is busy serving another resident.
“We are pleased to welcome Caledonia Ambulance / GVEMS to the CHS MIHC family. The mission of Caledonia ambulance fits perfectly with the mission of CHS MIHC. This collaboration will assure the continuation of high quality pre-hospital care in the community,” said Chief/CEO Reg Allen.
Officials from GVEMS and CHS will host a community forum on April 24 at 7 p.m. at J.W. Jones Hall in Caledonia (354 Leicester Rd ) to answer any questions about the merger with the public.
